Welcome to The Little Reading Nest Blog
Feb 08, 2025
Hello! If you are new around here, I’m Del, an Early Literacy Specialist and mum to a gorgeous, but feral toddler.
The Little Reading Nest started in 2024 when I left my ten+ year long career as an Early Years teacher and SENCo to be a more present mum to my daughter, Rose. I realised when I left that there was a way for my knowledge and passion for early literacy to reach and support more families around the world.
In just six months, the idea has grown into an amazing community on Instagram and will soon see the launch of my first curriculum, Phonics at Home. I set up this website in January of 2025, and now I am thrilled to launch The Little Reading Nest Blog.
You can expect reading, writing and phonics advice and weekly posts to keep you up to date with everything early literacy and how best to support your child at home, as well as lots of free resources and ideas.
My goal is to provide you with accurate, actionable advice and practical tips that you can use to develop your child's literacy skills.
Every child deserves the magic of reading and writing. Every parent deserves the right tools and advice to support their development.
If you’ve found this blog because you want to support your little one at home and don't know where to start, I get it. I have taught in Early Years and KS1 for over ten years, and supported hundreds of wonderful parents and families, as well as staff from other schools. I also now have my own daughter, Rose, who is the most beautiful thing on earth and a wet gremlin all at once! I know what works, and importantly what doesn’t. I’ve been there and been through it, and now I’m here to help you.
From reading, writing and phonics activities to the latest early literacy news, The Little Reading Nest Blog is a place for you, so if there’s anything you’d like me to cover, you can send me a DM on Instagram.
I’m excited to get started!
Your early literacy bestie, Del xoxo
